A few days ago, Prime Minister Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim says the civil servants in Malaysia will get a 13% salary increase, set to take effect on December.
Speaking at an event recently, Anwar explained that this salary boost, costing over RM10 billion next year, is possible because they’re keeping a close eye on how they spend. He thinks it’s really important to reward civil servants fairly for all their hard work. He also mentioned that they’ll be keeping an eye on civil servants to make sure they’re doing their jobs properly. Those who aren’t might not get the raise.
Datuk Anwar, who’s also the minister of finance, says despite Malaysia having a lot of debt and spending more money than it earns, they can still afford this raise by managing their money carefully.
The prime minister is confident that everyone in Parliament will agree to this raise. He mentioned that key leaders in the government support it, so he doesn’t see any reason why it won’t go through smoothly. As he said, the leaders in the government is supports this move.
This raise will make a big difference, especially for those on the lowest salaries. Their total income will go up to at least RM2,000 per month from RM1,795.
In short, the PM’s announcement is good news for civil servants, showing that the government cares about their well-being. Despite financial challenges, Datuk Anwar assures that they’re managing money wisely to make this salary increase happen.
