The Tamil Language Society (TLS) at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) is proud to announce the upcoming Aviraa Drama Competition. Scheduled for the 30th of June 2024, the event will run from 8am to 5pm and will be held at the Dewan Terbuka Keusahawanan of UMK. Registered participants in the competition will be offered overnight accommodation on the night of June 29th, 2024.This competition aims to offer a platform for students endowed with acting abilities to hone their skills and resilience while fostering a passion for and delight in the realm of drama. Additionally, it seeks to combat the diminishing interest in the art of drama and to promote awareness among teenagers about its significance.

The inception of the Aviraa Drama Competition, orchestrated by the TLS Club of UMK, stemmed from a desire to kindle a fervor for acting within the student community. This initiative arose from the necessity to furnish a stage where budding talents could nurture their aptitude in the performing arts. Consequently, the Aviraa Drama Competition stands as a prime opportunity for university-level individuals to showcase their creativity and acting prowess.

The Aviraa Drama Competition welcomes participation from all Malaysians aged between 18 to 27. Each participating team must comprise three members, including two actors and one visual interpreter. Registration requires a fee of RM50 per group, and the deadline for enrollment is the 20th of May 2024. Participants can scan the QR code given on the poster above for registration. Every drama should adhere to a time limit of between 3.45 and 4 minutes, with performances based solely on scripts provided by the organizing committee. Upon completing the registration process, participants will be required to attend an orientation workshop conducted online. The date and time for this workshop will be communicated following registration. Attendance at the orientation workshop is mandatory for all participants.

In the Aviraa Drama Competition, teams are vying for enticing rewards, with the top three winners earning RM 1,500.00, RM 1,000.00, and RM 800.00 respectively, in addition to receiving trophies and certificates. The prize structure extends down to the fifteenth place, with each team being recognized with varying cash prizes and accolades.

The Aviraa Drama Competition serves as a promising platform for aspiring talents to showcase their abilities and passion for the performing arts. With its commitment to nurturing young actors and fostering enthusiasm for drama, this event offers an invaluable opportunity for participants to express their creativity and hone their skills. Those interested in exploring their acting talents are encouraged to seize this chance to be part of a vibrant community dedicated to celebrating the art of storytelling through drama.
