SJKT Maha Ganesa Viddyasalai, situated in Sitiawan, Perak, stands as one of the renowned Tamil schools in the region, recognized for its ongoing transformation. With a rich history spanning 97 years, the school has become synonymous with adaptation and progress. Embracing the technological advancements of the 21st century in education has emerged as a primary objective for many institutions, and SJKT Maha Ganesa Viddyasalai has embarked on this journey with a significant stride. Recently, the school celebrated the inauguration of its library, studio, and reading hub, marking a pivotal moment in its quest for transformation and advancement.

Among the 15 other schools in the area, SJKT Maha Ganesa Viddyasalai has emerged as the top preference for parents. Principal Mariammah Krishnan highlighted that the school’s library underwent a significant transformation, exuding a renewed vibrancy following an investment of approximately RM66,000. This refurbishment was strategically aimed at fostering an environment conducive to enhancing students’ competence in science and technology.

With approximately 410 students enrolled in the school and a faculty of 30 teachers, SJKT Maha Ganesa Viddyasalai embarked on its transformative journey. The YTY industry kick-started this initiative with a generous contribution of RM25,000, laying a solid foundation for the project. Subsequently, through the collaborative efforts of teachers, members of the Parents & Teachers Association (PIBG), parents, and the wider community, this project came to fruition.

The school’s library is equipped with laptops to facilitate students’ educational research and exploration on the internet. Furthermore, the provision of comfortable tables and chairs within the library ensures an optimal learning environment for students. These modern amenities not only enhance the students’ learning experience but also provide opportunities for skill development.

By offering access to a diverse collection of approximately 16,000 books, which includes both purchased and donated volumes, the library plays a crucial role in fostering a reading culture among students and the younger generation. The extensive range of books caters to various interests and academic needs, encouraging students to engage with literature and broaden their knowledge horizons.

In addition to the library, SJKT Maha Ganesa Viddyasalai boasts a “Green Studio” designed to empower students and bolster their self-confidence in public speaking, both on stage and on screen. The “Green Studio” serves as a dynamic platform for students to hone their communication skills and express themselves effectively. Overall, these facilities and resources contribute to creating a conducive learning environment that promotes academic excellence, skill enhancement, and the cultivation of a lifelong passion for reading among the student community.
