Sid Sriram expressed his appreciation “Melbourne will be a part of our Australian tour. Sydney is one of the world’s most prestigious locations, and I am looking forward to the experience. There will be a lot more one-off performances in the US later this year.
He sang Tirupugazh “Sivanar Manam Kulira” at the Coachella event in California, and his Instagram video of him performing it drew a lot of attention. He stated, “The verse was written by poet-saint Arunagirinathar and is dedicated to Murugan.” I always play it at my gigs, so when I had the opportunity to play Coachella, I didn’t think twice about doing it. It’s perhaps the first time Tamil has been sung at this well-known celebration.”

Sriram started his performance with the Ganesha invocation, ‘Vakratunda mahakaya’. “I felt it was important to tell the world about my strong roots, even though the rest of the set mostly consisted of songs from my recent English album Sidharth.” Sriram revealed at Coachella that he had heard comments about the album’s tracks “Do the dance” and “Dear Shana.”Even so, “The hard way” was highly appreciated. I also sang my next hit, “One day god,” Sriram said.
Sriram was born in Chennai in 1990, and his parents moved to Fremont, California, when he was one year old. Sriram began learning Carnatic music from his mother when he was three years old.He first became acquainted with western music when he was seven years old, while listening to jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter on the radio. Based on his observation of similarities between western improvisation and Carnatic vocal practices such as the gamaka, Sriram attempted to combine the two.
Additionally, he received his first break in the film industry when he was given the Tamil song “Adiye” for the 2013 film Kadal by music director A.R. Rahman. At that time, he was twenty-three, and he recorded several movie tunes. Of course, “Srivalli,” a Telugu song he co-wrote with Devi Sri Prasad for the 2021 movie Pushpa: The Rise, was his biggest hit. Along with the blockbuster song “Kannu thangom,” he composed the soundtrack for Mani Ratnam’s 2020 Tamil film Vaanam Kottattum.
In November, he performed at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), in Mumbai, a special event dedicated to music by Sidharth. “I was pleasantly surprised by the response, considering that many people in India are familiar with my music from south Indian films,” he explains. However, two months later, at the NMACC’s smaller venue, I performed a pure Carnatic concert in addition to the English songs in the larger audience.
He spent time in Chennai, India, during his most recent tour, recording new songs for movies. These include the songs “Ae pulla” by Rahman for the Tamil film Lal Salaam, “Netru varai” by G.V. Prakash for the Tamil film Siren, “Nandanandanaa” by Devi Prasad for the Telugu film The Family Star, and “Madam sir madam anthe” by Kalyan Nayak for the Telugu film Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam.
For more than 20 years, he has also performed in Chennai during the December season. When asked if he modifies his style for a Carnatic music audience, he responds, “I’ve moved past the stage when I constantly consider how my music is perceived. I give it my all, and I consider it a blessing to be able to perform on any platform.
Later in May, he will play at the Sydney Opera House, fulfilling one of his concert fantasies. I’m excited to go to Sydney, one of the most prestigious places in the world. Later this year, the US has a number of one-off shows scheduled,” he said.
Srirram is also working on new English tracks.”I learned a lot of new things while assembling Sidharth.” I want to take my upcoming releases even further. He said, “I’m working on several cross-cultural partnerships and will make an announcement when the time is right.
