The Mahakavi Bharati Arts and Literature Forum celebrated its Seventh Anniversary and the 143rd birthday of renowned poet Mahakavi Bharathiyar with a program honoring talent, inspiration, and cultural legacy. At the Bharathiyar Awards event on this important day, literary prowess, creative fervor, and the recognition of extraordinary achievements came together.

The ceremony, which took place on May 14th this year, had a global flair to it as six Young Indian Students from Malaysia set out to win the coveted Bharathiyar Award, which required them to travel to India. They included two students from SJKT Castlefield in Puchong, Pirshveena Jayaraja, a standard 6 student, and Seshveen Jayaraja, a standard 3 student.

They were joined by SMK Raja Mahadi school representatives Kirthika Ramalingam, 15, and Harshavardini Alagendra, 13, who were also quite young. Areeshsharma Alagendra, 10, from SJKT Simpang Lima, and Sarvysswharan Yogeswaran, 12, from SJKT Taman Melawati, filled out the class.

Mrs.Shangetha Silva, the proud mother of two of the accomplished recipients, expressed her elation, stating, “This Bharatiyar Award is bestowed upon individuals meeting stringent criteria, including gold medal achievements, a minimum of seven championships, or international recognition.” She emphasized the annual recurrence of the Bharathiyar anniversary in India, welcoming talented youth from diverse nations to vie for this esteemed accolade.

Mrs.Shangetha Silva seized the opportunity to nominate her children, Seshveen Jayaraja and Pirshveena Jayaraja, citing their numerous international accolades as grounds for consideration.

The award event featured 145 awardees from Sri Lanka, India, and Malaysia, demonstrating Bharathiyar’s global impact. For young performers, this kind of acknowledgment is a tremendous motivator since it fosters a sense of pride, confidence, and aspiration for future activities, she added.

Above and beyond individual recognition, these honors uphold the values of excellence and cultural legacy while fostering personal development and a sense of pride in the country.

Undoubtedly, the influence of these awards surpasses the individual level and extends to communities, establishments, and countries, cultivating a climate of distinction and ambition. These young people’s accomplishments light the way for future generations to follow in their footsteps and add to the vast array of individual endeavors. They are an inspiration to us all. With the enduring spirit of Mahakavi Bharathiyar guiding us, we plant the seeds for a better, more powerful tomorrow as we celebrate today’s victories.
