Melinder Kaur, a retired army officer, former National athlete, and holder of five national records in sports, is embarking on an ambitious endeavor to push her limits even further. Renowned for her remarkable achievements in athletics, she now aims to surpass boundaries by attempting a new world record. Her upcoming feat entails setting the record for the fastest 1-mile run while wearing handcuffs. This remarkable challenge showcases her determination, resilience, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Recently, Melinder had achieved her fifth national record on 28th of January 2023 for becoming the first Malaysian woman to run non-stop backwards on a treadmill for 12 hours, covering the distance of 46.8km. After a year, Melinder is aiming to go one step higher. The current record she is preparing to attempt involves running a mile in the fastest time possible while being restrained by handcuffs. Furthermore, Melinder has successfully completed four time trials, consistently surpassing the current world record’s times. This accomplishment has bolstered her confidence in her ability to achieve the world record. This attempt is set to take place on 8th June 2024, at the Arena Sukan Kuala Lumpur starting from 5pm.

It will be an exciting and adrenaline-filled event as I strive to set a new benchmark in this unique and challenging record category.

When questioned about the driving force behind her decision to take on this challenge, Melinder elaborated on her desire to not only test her own limits but also to serve as a beacon of inspiration for others. She explained that she sees this endeavor as an opportunity to encourage people to break through their own barriers and defy expectations. Melinder firmly believes that by embracing challenges that may appear daunting at first glance, individuals can showcase the incredible strength of determination and resilience. In her view, it’s through such extraordinary feats that we can truly demonstrate the boundless potential of human achievement.

Ahead of her world record attempt, Melinder is diligently engaging in a rigorous training regime tailored to enhance her strength, speed, and agility. Her preparation includes targeted exercises performed while wearing handcuffs to replicate the conditions of the record-setting endeavor. Moreover, she is ensuring her mental fortitude is primed to confront any obstacles or setbacks with unwavering resilience and determination. With an exhaustive training regimen and unwavering commitment to her objective, she is resolute in her determination to give her utmost and achieve success in this record-breaking endeavor.

Melinder expressed sincere appreciation to her sponsors, Sun & Sand Sports, BiiB, and Bainsphysio, for their steadfast support throughout her pursuit of the world record.

Their assistance has significantly alleviated the challenges of organizing and preparing for the event, allowing me to focus solely on my performance. Additionally, I am immensely grateful to my coach, Sarjan Shaharudin bin Hashim, for his unwavering commitment to aiding me in achieving my athletic aspirations.

The forthcoming world record attempt holds a profound purpose: to raise funds and provide support for underprivileged children. Melinder is currently collaborating with the Gurpuri Foundation to materialize this initiative. As an athlete, her focus extends beyond mere recognition; her primary objective is efficacy. She endeavors to make a substantial impact through her unwavering dedication, diligence, and passion for her sport. The public is welcome to witness this world record attempt.

Anyone who wishes to support me or witness this unique event is welcome to attend. The more people cheering me on, the greater the motivation to give my best and make history. The support of spectators and well-wishers will create an electrifying atmosphere that will propel me towards my goal.

Melinder’s message to the community, especially to women, is to never underestimate their own strength and potential. She encourages everyone to embrace challenges, break free from constraints, and dare to dream big. With the right mindset and determination, she believes that anything is achievable. Melinder hopes that this world record attempt serves as a symbol of empowerment, resilience, and the limitless possibilities that await when individuals push themselves to new heights.

Melinder’s dedication and efforts exemplify the relentless pursuit of excellence and the indomitable spirit of human ambition. Through her unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries and inspiring others, she sets a shining example of determination and resilience. Her journey from national accolades to a world record attempt underscores the transformative power of perseverance and passion. With admiration for her unwavering commitment and determination, we extend our heartfelt wishes for her success in the upcoming world record attempt.
