Brin Pirathapan, 29, of Chelmsford, impressed judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace to defeat 57 other competitors in this year’s amateur tournament. Dr.Pirathapan prepared a winning menu that included a shellfish beginning, a spiced vegetable main, and a dessert of white chocolate, cardamom, and saffron ceremeux with lime and chili sorbet.

He stated, “The show is one of the reasons I’m the cook I am today. “He worked as a veterinary surgeon in Bristol before entering the show and stated that he had watched it since he was a child.”The food I grew up with was never bland. Coming from a Tamil, Sri Lankan heritage, we had good food on the table that was never dull,” he explained.

“There was something about this year that made me think that if I didn’t apply, I’d definitely sit and watch it and be disappointed that I didn’t.

“When I first walked into that kitchen, it hit me like a ton of bricks that I was there. It appears just as it does on the show. It doesn’t appear like a TV set it looks like a large kitchen, and you’re just sitting in that kitchen you’ve been watching for two decades,” he said.

He also remarked that he had almost been granted this fantastic second chance to focus on a proper passion of his that he would like to pursue.” If I could picture myself doing this full-time in the next year or two, that would be fantastic… my top priority right now will be food. I want food to carry me around the world, and I feel like I still have a lot to learn,” he remarked.

After defeating the other two finals, Louise Lyons Macleod and Chris Willoughby, he said the victory was for his parents. Pirathapan dedicates this victory to his parents, who raised him from a diverse background, culture, and possibilities.”They have been great, and I’ve done as much for them as I have for myself. “The experience has been incredible, and this is just the most amazing thing ever,” Pirathapan explained.

Dr. Pirathapan continues to work as a veterinarian, but he hopes to one day work in the food industry. “I have almost been given this incredible second chance to focus on a proper passion of mine and I would love to take it forward,” he stated.
