Silambarasan, popularly known as STR, is currently engaged in the shooting of “Thug Life,” the upcoming movie directed by Mani Ratnam and starring Kamal Haasan. This collaboration marks Kamal Haasan’s reunion with Mani Ratnam after three decades, making it a highly anticipated project. In a recent reveal by the makers, the first look poster and teaser of STR were unveiled, confirming his pivotal role in the film. The poster, introducing him as the “New Thug in Town,” quickly gained traction on social media platforms, further increasing excitement and anticipation surrounding the movie.
The film shoot for “Thug Life” is currently in progress in Chennai, and a recent video featuring STR from the sets has captured significant attention. In the video, he can be seen engaging with a group of school children and taking pictures with them, bringing joy to their faces. The charming actor’s interaction with the kids quickly went viral on the internet, drawing considerable interest from fans. Notably, STR showcased a long hair look in the video.
STR’s inclusion has significantly boosted the appeal of “Thug Life”. Following the confirmation of Silambarasan’s role in the film, the overseas rights were reportedly sold for RS 60 crore, marking a substantial increase of RS 10 crore from the initial valuation. It’s speculated that STR will portray the role of Kamal Haasan’s son in the film, promising an exceptional and unforgettable performance if the reports hold true. Additionally, it’s reported that STR will be portraying the character of a Border Officer in Mani Ratnam’s directorial.
Kamal Haasan has temporarily taken a break from the shooting of “Thug Life” to allocate his schedule for the promotion of his upcoming release, “Indian 2”. Directed by Shankar, “Indian 2” is set to hit theaters on July 12th, 2024.
