“Mei,” an upcoming and captivating Singapore Tamil series, is poised to elevate the Singapore Tamil entertainment industry to new heights. The series, set to premiere on June 12, 2024, will be available on Vasantham, Mewatch, and Mediacorp Drama on YouTube. Notably, “Mei” has garnered significant attention not only in Singapore but also among fans in Malaysia, underscoring the regional appeal of Singaporean productions.

“Mei” distinguishes itself as the first Singapore Tamil series to be filmed across four different countries: Singapore, South Africa, Azerbaijan, and Malaysia. This ambitious undertaking highlights the incredible effort and resources invested in the production, promising a visually rich and culturally diverse narrative. This approach not only enhances the visual appeal of the series but also demonstrates the creative and logistical capabilities of the Singapore Tamil entertainment industry.  The cast of the series includes Mahalakshmi, Shafinah Banu, Veronica Shaw, Soundrarajan JV, James Kumar, Eswari Gunasagar, Shamini Gunasagar, Saravanan Ayyavoo, Jabur Deen Faruk and many more.

“Mei” is an exhilarating crime thriller that promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats over the course of 26 episodes. Combining suspenseful storytelling with intricate plot twists, the series delves into the dark and complex world of crime. Eswari Gunasagar, one of the cast members, takes on the role of “Mayuri” in “Mei” and describes the role as challenging. Her character explores a wide range of emotions, adding depth to the narrative.

Filming the series presented several logistical challenges, including lengthy travel times from the hotel to the shoot locations. In particular, they had to journey far to film scenes in the desert. The weather conditions abroad were unpredictable, often forcing the crew to cancel shoots and pack up halfway through due to sudden changes. Despite these obstacles, the series was successfully filmed in 50 days. This achievement was made possible by the unwavering commitment and sacrifice of every artist involved.

Singaporeans can tune in to watch “Mei” on Vasantham, while viewers from other countries can enjoy it on platforms such as Mewatch or YouTube starting from June 12th onwards.
