Sunway Medical Centre (SMC) maintained its position as Malaysia’s top Paediatrics hospital in the Best Specialized Hospitals Asia Pacific Newsweek 2024 list.
Sunway Medical Centre is ranked 26th for Paediatrics in the most recent Best Specialised Hospital Asia Pacific Newsweek 2024. The hospital debuted in the top 75 hospitals in APAC, while also boosting its rankings in Oncology, Neurology, and Cardiology.
Sunway Healthcare Group President Dato’ Lau Beng Long stated, “We are delighted that our Paediatrics is recognised regionally, as Sunway Medical Centre operates the country’s first dedicated Children’s Emergency Department among private hospitals, with over 22,000 patient visits since 2023.
This one-stop center for the healthcare requirements of newborns, children, and adolescents is supported by 45 paediatricians in 24 paediatric subspecialties.”
At the same time, SMC’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Seow Vei Ken, expressed gratitude for the committed team’s hard work and commitment to providing world-class healthcare.
“The recognition underscores our continuous pursuit of excellence in healthcare. This will be a catalyst to continually enhance our healthcare services and innovate specialised medical services to meet diverse patient needs,” he uttered.
With 724 licensed beds and the potential to grow to 1100 beds at the construction of the sixth block, Tower F, within the hospital campus, SMC is the largest private quaternary hospital in the nation to date.
The Asia-Pacific region’s the highest public, teaching or academic, and private hospitals that specialize in cardiology, cardiac surgery, endocrinology, neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, orthopaedics, pediatrics, and pulmonology are recognized and honored in the Best Specialized Hospitals Asia Pacific 2024 ranking.
This feat includes being one of the first Malaysian hospitals to be nominated to the top 250 hospitals in the world in the Newsweek World’s Best Hospitals 2024 rankings, which compare hospitals throughout the world in terms of clinical excellence, research, and innovation.
