On June 15, 2024, the Amal Makmur Welfare Association of Perak held a prestigious awards ceremony at Hotel Seri Malaysia, Ipoh, to honor the remarkable achievements of 50 secondary school students who hail from Tamil school backgrounds. These students have distinguished themselves through outstanding performances in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities, both on national and international platforms. The ceremony was a celebration of excellence and perseverance, highlighting the significant contributions and successes of Tamil school students in diverse fields.

The Amal Makmur Welfare Association has long been committed to recognizing and supporting the educational and personal growth of students from Tamil school backgrounds.  Notably, among them, two extraordinary students, Alvin Arvin and Brindha Kumaran, were awarded gold medals at the event. The gold medals were sponsored by Dato Anuar Ibrahim, the owner of Siti Aishah Sdn Bhd in Silibin.

Moreover, Mr. Nachimuthu Karuppannan, the Secretary of the Perak Amal Makmur Welfare Association and the head of the organizing committee for the ceremony, shared that the mementos and awards were presented to the students in remembrance of the late “Tokoh Guru” Datuk Seri N.S. Selvamany.

A notable highlight of the event was the honouring of Mr. Ravindran, the retired Vice Principal of SMK Darul Ridzuan, Taiping. Mr. Ravindran began his educational journey at a Tamil school and later earned his degree from Universiti Malaya. He went on to complete his Master’s degree at Universiti Sains Malaysia. In a testament to his belief in the value of Tamil school education, he also sent all three of his children to Tamil schools, and they have all since graduated. Mr. Ravindran’s remarkable achievements, rising from the humble beginnings of a Tamil school education, were celebrated and honored at the event.

Selvamany.
