The Academy Awards are regarded as the most prestigious honor in the film industry.On June 25, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invited 487 new members where are some of the invitees include SS Rajamouli, Shabana Azmi, Ritesh Sidhwani, well-known Indian celebrities, have received invitations to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The list also features 71 people who have been nominated for Oscars, including 19 winners.In addition to the celebrities mentioned, invites were also extended to cinematographer Ravi Varman, filmmaker Rima Das, and Prem Rakshith, the choreographer of Naatu Naatu, among others.

The directors branch has extended an invitation to SS Rajamouli, the visionary director of the epic RRR, which took home the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2023. He is joined by renowned independent filmmaker Rima Das, who has directed films such as Village Rockstars and Tora’s Husband.
Shabana Azmi, a veteran actress noted for her stunning performances in films including as Godmother, Arth, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, has been invited to join the Actors Branch, marking a momentous milestone in her 50-year career.
Renowned film producer Ritesh Sidhwani, who has supported highly acclaimed films like Gully Boy and Dil Chahta Hai, is set to become a member of the Producers section.The Cinematographers division has extended an invitation to renowned cinematographer Ravi Varman, whose credits include Ponniyin Selvan: Part Two, Indian 2, and Japan.
Rama Rajamouli, the wife of SS Rajamouli and costume designer for RRR, has been invited to the Costume Designers branch, demonstrating the Academy’s dedication to diversity in talent selection.
The Production and Technology division employs choreographer Prem Rakshith, who made the famous dance steps for the Oscar-winning song Naatu Naatu. Sheetal Sharma, who has worked on Gangubai Kathiawadi and Kesari, has also been invited to join the same branch.Hemal Trivedi, a documentary filmmaker who has worked on movies such as Saving Face and Among the Believers, will be joining the Documentary department.
Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang shared their excitement, “We are happy to welcome this year’s cohort of new members to the Academy. The global film community has been greatly impacted by these extraordinarily gifted professionals and artists.”
