The acclaimed Tamil thriller drama, Chithha, starring Siddharth, has been selected to screen at the prestigious Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024. Directed by SU Arun Kumar, this film is among three Tamil titles chosen for the festival, alongside Samyuktha Vijayan’s Neela Nira Sooriyan and Ajai Vishwanath’s short film Starch.

Chithha

Released on 28th September 2023, Chithha received critical acclaim for its gripping narrative and sensitive handling of a distressing topic. The film follows the emotional journey of a man whose beloved niece mysteriously disappears. Featuring performances by Baby Sahasra Shree, Nimisha Sajayan, and Anjali Nair, the film captivated audiences with its depth and emotional intensity.

The film’s soundtrack, composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas and Santhosh Narayanan, along with Vishal Chandrashekhar’s background score, adds an evocative layer to the story. Produced by Siddharth’s own Etaki Entertainment, Chithha stands out for its artistry and storytelling prowess.

SU Arun Kumar, known for his work in Pannaiyarum Padminiyum (2014), Sethupathi (2016), and Sindhubaadh(2019), has crafted a film that resonates with audiences. Currently working on Veera Dheera Sooran, Kumar continues to push boundaries in storytelling.

Festival Highlights

The IFFM, hosted by the Victorian State Government from August 15 to 25, celebrates the diversity of Indian cinema. Chithha will be featured alongside other compelling works, such as Neela Nira Sooriyan, which explores complex human relationships and Starch, which depicts the resilience of a young Indian mother in Australia.

Special Guest Appearance

Adding to the festival’s excitement, Isai Puyal AR Rahman is set to attend the event and Telugu actor Ram Charan Tej will be the guest of honor. He will receive the Ambassador for Indian Art and Culture award, recognizing his significant contributions to Indian cinema. Expressing his gratitude, Ram Charan stated,

I am deeply honored to be part of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, celebrating the diversity and richness of Indian cinema on an international platform.
