Sutra Foundation, under the guidance of Datuk Ramli Ibrahim, will be staging the Odissi event of the year from 10 till 14 April 2019 – Odissi On High.
Odissi On High promises an unforgettable evening of dance, rhythm and theatre; showcasing dazzling performers of Sutra Foundation (Kuala Lumpur) together with the amazing male dancers of Rukdrakshya Foundation (Bhubaneswar). In a celebration of the dynamics of change, evolution of techniques and proliferation of new repertoire inspired by the two ‘paramparas’ of odissi – those of the late Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra and Guru Debaprasad Das, Odissi On High will be staging a unique experiential event in Malaysia and India in its second season.

Some of the best male dancers of Odisha can now be found with Rudrakshya Foundation and have been groomed by Guru Bichitrananda. Not only are Rudrakshya dancers amazing, Bichitrananda’s new odissi compositions have explored unique vocabulary within the aesthetic bounds of odissi. His new works represent the fresh trend in odissi – dynamic, exciting and technically challenging. He is the next generation of exciting choreographers who has emerged from Odisha and whose works resonate with youths today.”
