While many of us can only dream of space travel, this bright 26-year-old young woman is doing her best to make her space adventure a starlight reality.

Hailing from Kuantan, Brelveenraj Kaur had her “heart set on the stars” ever since she was a little girl. She currently works as a satellite controller with MEASAT.

Staying true to her word, she’s currently undergoing rigorous training to become an astronaut, with her ultimate goal to reach for the stars. Currently, she allocates some time for her to pursue a Masters in Aerospace Engineering (GNSS in Aviation).

“I am willing to put in the effort to become one – whenever that may be.” The first step is to be ready for adversity. I am prepared for it, it’s my dream to become an astronaut and work on board a space station one day,” said Brelveenraj.

Astonishingly, the Malaysian National Defence University Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduate has attended numerous talks which are related to international space technology conferences, including the Multi GNSS Conference in Singapore in 2020 and the NASA Space Apps Challenge Conference in 2019.

You might work as a space lawyer, a space journalist, or in space tourism. However, the passion really matters when it comes to working life. Only then, can you make it. – Brelveenraj

According to Twenty Two13, the courageous lass has conquered and thrived through her hardships whilst encouraging those keen on space studies that it is a multifaceted area, and anyone can work in the space field – even if they don’t have a background in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.

While the journey has not been an easy ride for Breveenraj while present with self-doubt when she joined Measat in 2018. However, this feisty woman managed to pull through the journey with constant encouragement from her colleagues and those closest to her.

When asked what would be the one advice and knowledge that she hopes to impart to the younger generation, the scientist said:

“Surround yourself with supportive peers, mentors or teachers. Never lose your curiosity, and never question yourself.” It’s fine to make mistakes, but don’t allow that to stop you from dreaming.”

Keep inspiring us, young lady!
