Datin Elaine Daly is a household name in Malaysia and is no stranger to the local showbiz fraternity especially when it comes to the pageant industry. Having being in the foray for at least two decades; the enterprising 43-year-old mom of two sits as the National Director for the Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation (MUMO) since 2016. An actress, TV host, model and founder of Lead Up.Asia, a platform aiming at empowering women, Elaine manages family, work and success in a stride.

Varnam Malaysia had the privilege to interview Elaine about this year’s event which will be the first of its kind in the history of Miss Universe Malaysia.

due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Elaine and Shweta Sekhon, Miss Universe Malaysia 2019, confirmed that the contest will be streamed online on the freshly updated platform made available on the official website, with just the contestants and the panel of judges present.

Initially, the top 18 finalists of the pageant were revealed in December 2019 and the new Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 was supposed to be crowned at the Gala Night in March 2020. Unfortunately, the event was postponed due to the Movement Control Order (MCO).

The e-Gala live feed will be streamed on Saturday, 5th September 2020 at 5 pm.

The Miss Universe Malaysia Organization (MUMO) announced that the early bird tickets to the e-Gala for the crowning of the next Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 are now available for purchase on www.missuniversemalaysia.com.my. To purchase tickets, visit the site and register for an account before making your purchase.

Open to viewers worldwide, early bird tickets are priced at RM15 for purchases made from 17th–31st August 2020, while tickets purchased from 1st – 5th September 2020 are priced at RM20.

Each registered account may only purchase one ticket per user, and 20% of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Lighthouse Children Welfare Home Association Kuala Lumpur & Selangor.

The top 18 finalists vying for the title of Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 are Adelina Chan Yin Ling, Celine Foo, Charissa Chong Su Huey, Ching Poh Yee, Chua Xing Er, Francisca Luhong James, Fung Wei Qing, Haylynn Tan Siau Thong, Liew Chi Mun, Louisa Ananthan, Neha Varma, Ooi Erjun, Prissha Gerald, Pritha Manivannan, Rindsay Rachelle Laige, Serene Chai Yong Bin, Yaw Mee Mee, and Yong Meei Yeng.

Other subsidiary titles to be won include Miss La Jung Youthful Forever, Miss Auto Bavaria Elegance, Miss Dermalogica Healthy Skin, Miss Skinz Sanctuary Flawless Skin, Miss Strip Body Confidence, Miss Glojas Beautiful, Miss HABIB, Shawn Cutler Hair Award, Miss Congeniality, and Miss Online Personality.

The E-Gala ceremony will be anchored by local celebrity Will Quah and will include a show by teenage performer Aqeesh. The panel of judges will include actor, director & producer Dato’ Hans Isaac, Datin Selwinder Kaur, Dr Nicholas COO of Glojas by Smart International Aesthetic, Medical Director & Aesthetic Medical Practitioner of La Jung Aesthetic Clinic, Miss Universe Malaysia 2012, Deborah Henry, Carven Ong from Carven Ong Couture, Director of Aesthetics International Group, Michelle Lam, Celebrity Stylist, Founder & Creative Director of Shawn Cutler Group of Salons, Shawn Loong and co-founder of Bowerhaus, Elizabeth Lee.
As Miss Universe Malaysia 2020, the winner will wear a crown by Official Crown Maker and Jewellery partner, Habib Jewels, and receive the opportunity of a lifetime to represent Malaysia at the Miss Universe competition. Additionally, she will also receive a cash prize and sponsored prizes with a combined value of RM180,000 and a full education scholarship from HELP University.
