Healing Is Subtle, But Not Impossible

Are you aware of "emotional healing" ?

When the topic of “healing” comes up, many people associate it with physical healing, which means you are physically hurt or injured and you use some sort of medication or ointment to heal the wound. This process is commonly referred to as healing, and it, too, occurs subtly.

But what I’ll be discussing here is emotional healing, which is a term you’re unlikely to hear from anyone. I believe it is overlooked because most people are unfamiliar with the concept of emotional healing.

“No matter how hard life pushes and throws things at you, life must go on.” That is what we usually hear from everyone when we are going through difficult situations. An utterance of motivation and support is very important to give to anyone in order for them to regain their strength, and it is a much appreciated contribution that one can give.

However, people nowadays mostly get this kind of support from the internet because not everyone is worried about your journey of pain, sorrow and breakdowns.

But let’s just say that even if you manage to overcome every obstacle and pain in your life (with or without support) and finally begin moving on to the next stage of your life, are you certain that you’ll be completely healed by what has deeply affected and traumatised you?

People say we must see problems such as the paper cut we get while reading a book. We may simply go through each chapter, and occasionally we may be wounded by a small paper cut while at it. We’ll wait for the cut to heal for a moment. We’ll apply a bandage to the cut to help it heal.

See, others may see it as a small paper cut, but only you will understand how painful it is.

Now, our cut heals and we begin to move on, but does this mean there will be no scars? No, our scar remains there – probably forever.

Whether we like it or not, the scar will be with you for the rest of your life as a reminder or lesson to be careful the next time you get hurt, which is a good thing in my opinion because we humans are so scatterbrained and forgetful.

So, now, we know that even if your wound has healed and the only thing that remains is the scar or the lessons you learned to be more cautious the next time. But will you be emotionally healed though?

As we are all aware, physical healing occurs relatively quickly. As I previously stated, when you are injured externally, you put on a bandage, and because it is so visible on the outside, you can see that it is curing quite evidently.

However, emotional healing necessitates not only time but also effort. It is something that happens within. You can’t see it for yourself, even if you are the one who is healing. People who do not fully recover emotionally will find it difficult to look back and embrace and accept the fact that something has happened and that is okay.

It’s all due to the fact that healing is subtle. But that doesn’t mean you won’t recover completely. When bad things happen, you will face them and overcome them gradually. We all have bad days, and we should all recognise that these “bad days” will not last forever.

One way or another, things will fade and you will accept it with grace. I guarantee it.

Now, I say this because only a few people understand that healing is a subtle process that takes a long time. Even if the person does not express it clearly, that is the reality, and understanding this reality would make life so much easier for many.

Understanding one’s emotions is both important and difficult because humans are complex machines. Many thoughts and emotions pass through our minds and hearts. The complexities can make it difficult to understand ourselves at times.

But, I suppose, that is what makes a human a human, and all we have to do is accept and embrace it as time passes.

Have you ever gone through an emotional healing period? Please let us know if you believe it is critical that people should be aware of it.
