Last week, there were rumours circling around that Simbu’s upcoming film by Venkat Prabhu (Mankatha, Briyani) will be titled Athiradi. It has now come to our attention that those rumours were, well, just rumours.

Yesterday, Venkat Prabhu tweeted out the film’s official title via a stylistic poster. Check it out below:

The moment all you #Strfans waiting for!!! We are really proud to announce our next #strvp title!! It’s #strmaanaadu #maanaadu #aVPpolitics #vp9 @sureshkamatchi @Deepanboopathy @Vijayakumar1959 @subbu6panchu with all your love and blessings!! #titleposter pic.twitter.com/mg5NWqm0YH

The Tamil words in the poster above translate to ‘Maanaadu’ (meaning: conference) with subtitles that read ‘A Venkat Prabhu Politics’, clearly indicating that this is going to be some sort of politically heavy film — Times of India is reporting it to be a political action-thriller.

Maanaadu would mark the first collaboration between the duo. Both Venkat Prabhu and Simbu are talented individuals and so this could turn out to be one of the much talked about films of 2019. It’ll also be interesting to see if this film faces backlash when it’s closer to its release date, something that has become a norm for political movies in Indian cinema as of late.

As for this year, Simbu is collaborating with director Mani Ratnam and a star-studded cast in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. Venkat Prabhu, on the other hand, is set to release a gangster comedy titled Party.
