Popular South Indian actress, Hansika Motwani, has fallen prey to the downside of technology. Private photos of Hansika from her recent vacation in New York were circulated online on a random Instagram channel by hackers. She is not the first to be the victim of leaked photos. Actresses Amy Jackson, Amala Paul and Trisha have also been on the same boat. As for now, most of the photos were taken down after reports on Twitter and Instagram.
Leaking private pictures online without given consent is a form of sex crime that is categorised under the broad term of ‘revenge porn’. There is currently no law in India to prosecute offenders of such crime but swift efforts are being made with the submission of the first draft of the Personal Data Protection Bill 2018 by a team headed by former Supreme Court Judge BN Srikrishna.
Hansika has confirmed the incident with a post on her personal Twitter account that her Phone has been hacked, and friends and fans should not respond to any random messages.
