Vijay Sethupathi fans in Malaysia were not only disappointed upon hearing that ‘Super Deluxe’ may be banned from Malaysia, they were already making travel plans to Singapore to watch the movie!

So, what happened?

A Facebook page called ‘Malaysia Vijay Sethupathi Fan Club – MVSFC’ broke the news that Super Deluxe, starring Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha Ruth, Ramya Krishnan, Fahadh Faasil and others, may be banned in Malaysia. This was reported to be due to the sensitive and mature content in the film.

News spread like wildfire in the virtual world and landed right in the hands of the producers of Super Deluxe. The Super Deluxe team released a statement in a few hours that read,”Dear well wishers from Malaysia! We have been able to release Super Deluxe worldwide with the support of our distributors. In Malaysia, unfortunately, we did not release any support from the local distributors. We still hope to bring the film to Malaysia soon. Will keep you posted!”

There might light at the end of this tunnel, as popular local distributors, DMY Creations, jumped to the opportunity of distributing the film in Malaysia in the comment section of the post.

The film has been receiving rave reviews in India following its release and has gained a rating of 9.3/10 on IMDb.
