Malaysia's First Ever Rap Competition, RAP Porkalam, Is Here!

Yes, you heard that right!

Tamil rap is very popular here in Malaysia. No doubt that we have some amazing local talents who have done really well both here and abroad. Astro Ulagam is exclusively bringing ‘RAP Porkalam’, Malaysia’s first Tamil rap competition. All Malaysians aged 18 to 28 years old are invited to participate in the auditions. It will be on the 11th January at Astro Bukit Jalil, KL, from 10am to 1pm.

This is your chance if you have dreamed about being a rapper and wanted to hear the crowd cheer as you drop a beat, this is your chance to live your dream!

During the audition, contestants need to choose between three audio tracks and rap in Tamil for at least 1 minute to their track of choice. From there, 16 talented contestants will be shortlisted from the audition and will subsequently undergo intense rap battles over several elimination rounds. The deciding factor will be mostly taken from audiences’ votes.

The champion will take home a cash prize of RM5000 and a collaboration with Sony Music Malaysia for a debut single release, while the 1^st runner up will take home a cash prize of RM2000 with an option to collaborate with Sony Music Malaysia.
