Karate exponent Sharmendran pulled off a stunning comeback by striking the third gold medal in the final of the men’s kumite below 75kg at the Ninh Binh Province Sports Gymnasium.
It came to our surprise as the 30-year-old karateka who has battled his right knee injury and undergone an operation in the year of 2018 made a stellar comeback for the 31st SEA Games by adding one more gold for our Malaysian Karate Team, yesterday.

The 2014 Karate World Cup champion has captivated Malaysians all around by beating Indonesia’s karate exponent Ignatius Joshua Kandou with the score of 3-1.
According to his interview with a TV Channel, Sharm has been actively involved in karate since young. The sport which initially started as a hobby has led him to a greater place now. Having said that, this isn’t Sharm’s first gold medal. He has previously emerged as the champion at the fifth South East Asia Championship 2016 and Sea Games in 2017 and 2019.
