Thalapathy Vijay’s film ‘The Greatest Of All Time’ (The GOAT), which hit theaters on September 5, has been enjoying remarkable success at the box office. The commercial blockbuster has surpassed a global gross of Rs 450 crore, making it the sixth Tamil film to reach this significant milestone. Despite facing competition from new releases, ‘GOAT’ continues to lead the box office across various regions and has even set a new record in France.
‘GOAT’ has become the highest-grossing Tamil film in France, achieving 47.7k admissions within just three weeks of its theatrical run. The film’s distribution partner has officially confirmed this impressive feat. This marks Vijay’s second film to surpass 47k admissions in France, breaking box office records and surpassing the performance of his previous release, ‘Leo’.
‘GOAT’ has further cemented Vijay’s dominance at the box office across various regions, with the film’s overseas earnings estimated at over Rs 160 crore in just 22 days. It has also become the highest-grossing Tamil film in Sri Lanka. In Tamil Nadu, ‘GOAT’ has brought in over Rs 217 crore in the same period and is on the verge of surpassing ‘Leo’ (Rs 227.5 crore) and ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ (Rs 227 crore) to claim the title of the highest-grossing film in the state.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, ‘The GOAT’ is a high-octane action entertainer featuring Vijay in a dual role as both father and son. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Sneha, Ajmal Ameer, Mohan, Jayaram, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren, Vaibhav, and many others. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music, with the songs resonating well with audiences in theaters.
