The national women’s doubles team of Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah expressed their satisfaction with their performance at the Denmark Open, even though they were unable to progress beyond the initial rounds of the tournament.

Pearly emphasized that their experience in Europe was incredibly meaningful, as it not only exposed them to high-level competition but also allowed them to gain insights into their game. She mentioned that facing off against top international players provided them with valuable lessons in strategy, teamwork, and mental resilience.

“We navigated those two weeks successfully, competing against strong opponents and gaining many valuable lessons. I remain proud of our accomplishments in Finland and Denmark,” she stated to the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

For the record, reaching the quarter-finals of the Denmark Open marks one of their best achievements in this tournament, especially compared to previous years when they frequently exited in the early rounds.

Meanwhile, Thinaah acknowledged that she felt somewhat fatigued, which had a slight impact on their performance, despite their efforts to advance further in the tournament.

“We were a bit fatigued, but each time we stepped onto the court, we remained driven to represent Malaysia and aimed to secure crucial points. That’s why we supported each other throughout the match to achieve important victories,” she said.

Pearly and Thinaah were defeated in the quarter-finals of the Denmark Open by the Japanese duo Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi, with match scores of 20-22 and 19-21. Notably, this was the same pair they encountered in the semi-finals at the Arctic Open.

Pearly and Thinaah have demonstrated immense pride in their journey at the Denmark Open, showcasing their determination and resilience despite the challenges they faced. Their experience in Europe has not only enriched their skills but also strengthened their bond as a team. As they continue to learn and grow from these valuable encounters with top international players, both athletes remain committed to representing Malaysia with excellence in future tournaments.
