Women’s singles player Kisona Selvaduray has made a remarkable comeback and brought pride to Malaysia by clinching the title at the Dutch Open, marking the end of a three-year title drought. Kisona faced off against Azerbaijan’s Keisha Fatimah in the final match held in Hertogenbosch on October 27. Displaying exceptional skill and composure, Kisona secured a convincing victory with scores of 21-14 and 21-16. This victory marks Kisona’s first title since she won the Spain International in 2021. Additionally, it is significant as it is her first triumph since departing from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) at the end of 2022.
At the age of 26, Kisona has made history by becoming the first Malaysian woman to claim a senior international title this year. Currently ranked No. 101 in the world, she showcased her skill and determination by finishing the final match in a swift 41 minutes.
