Over the years, Malaysia has witnessed countless iconic concerts featuring legendary singers and composers who’ve captivated audiences with their unforgettable performances.
Yet, only a few remain etched in the hearts of fans for years to come.
One such electrifying experience was GV Prakash’s Celebration of Life concert, organised by DMY Creation which was held last Saturday (7th December) at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
This marked GV Prakash’s first concert outside India, and Malaysians were honoured to be his chosen audience.
The overwhelming attendance of 13,000 fans roaring with excitement was a testament to the deep affection they hold for this extraordinary music director and singer.
The evening began on a high note, thanks to the infectious energy of DJ Deepika, South India’s pioneering and leading female DJ.
Despite having just 10 to 15 minutes to perform, Deepika proved her mettle, leaving the crowd buzzing with her beats and setting the stage for what would be an unforgettable night.
Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for. GV Prakash made a grand entry to the stage through the crowd with the song Celebration of Life from the film Aayirathil Oruvan.
It was the perfect opener, igniting the crowd with anticipation for the musical journey ahead.
From the very first note to the final encore, it truly was a celebration of life, filled with melodies, rhythms, and pure magic.
Over the course of the night, GV Prakash treated fans to a stellar lineup of 30 songs, including timeless favourites.
From his debut composition Veyilodu Vilaiyadi to the explosive Bittu Padam, he rocked the stage with an energy that was nothing short of electrifying.
Joining him were an ensemble of powerhouse singers, including Saindhavi, Haricharan, Tippu, Diwakar, Anand Aravindakshan, Anthony Dasan, Haripriya, Nithyashree, and Stefany Vatz, who elevated the evening to new heights.
A standout moment was Pirai Thedum from Mayakkam Enna, performed by GV Prakash and Saindhavi, which tugged at the heartstrings of everyone present.
Adding to the pride of the evening was Malaysia’s own star, Arulini Ashwiinaa Arumugam, famed for her stint on “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa”.
Her soulful voice and dazzling performance reminded fans why she is a national treasure.
As the concert progressed, the godfather of Tamil hip-hop, Yogi B, stormed the stage with an electrifying performance of Porkalam from Aadukalam.
The energy in the stadium reached fever pitch as the crowd danced wildly to every beat.
A poignant moment came when GV Prakash paid tribute to the late legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam (SPB) by performing the iconic Ayyayo.
The heartfelt rendition left the audience emotional and served as a beautiful homage to the great artist.
As the night approached its peak, GV Prakash unleashed a medley of high-energy dance numbers, including Otha Sollaala and Vaanganna Vanakkanganna, transforming the stadium into a pulsating sea of energy.
He brought the night to a spectacular close with Oh Eesa, the perfect finale to an evening that was equal parts electrifying and emotional.
Throughout the concert, GV Prakash’s connection with his fans was palpable.
Whether interacting with the audience or venturing into the crowd mid-performance, he ensured every attendee felt part of the magic.
