The Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) has opened applications for its Special Full and Partial Scholarship Sponsorship Programme for Medical Studies. This program is designed to benefit students from the B40 Indian community, with applications being accepted from yesterday until next Tuesday, December 17.

According to P. Prabakaran, Chairman of the MITRA Special Task Force Committee, this program is intended to assist Indian students who have completed the Matriculation Programme or Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) in the 2023/2024 academic year and aspire to pursue a career in the medical field.

“This initiative is a collaboration between MITRA and Perdana University, where the scholarships will be fully funded by the university, while MITRA will handle the recruitment of participants,” he said during a press conference at Parliament yesterday.

“Perdana University will provide full scholarships for 10 students and partial scholarships for 40 students, with additional financial support from the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN),” he added.

He mentioned that additional eligibility requirements for this scholarship include being a Science stream student with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of over 3.50.

Prabakaran emphasized that this initiative is a proactive step by MITRA to enhance the socio-economic development of the Indian community through strategic collaborations with companies and organizations as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.

Students who have completed the Matriculation Programme or STPM in the 2023/2024 academic year and wish to apply can find more information by emailing infomitra@mitra.gov.my or calling 011-2561513.
