SJKT Kulai Besar Students Triumph at Johor Tamil Schools Chess Tournament

In recent times, we have witnessed significant achievements and developments within the Malaysian Indian community, particularly among Tamil school students. These students have been excelling, with their accomplishments ranging from school-level competitions to international recognition. One notable event was a recent chess tournament held for Tamil schools across Johor, where talented students showcased their skills and determination.

The tournament took place last weekend, on the 14th of December, at SJKT Bandar Segamat. It was organized into two categories: boys and girls. A total of 86 boys and 74 girls participated, bringing the overall number of Tamil school students taking part in the event to 160.

Among the participants, students from SJKT Kulai Besar emerged as the top winners in the chess tournament. In the girls’ category, Rubeshni secured 1st place out of 74 participants, earning Gold award, along with a RM 100 cash prize, a champion trophy, a medal, and a certificate. Vansika finished in 30th place, while Taneswari came in 26th, with both receiving the silver medal and certificates. Koshana secured 24th place and was also awarded the silver medal and a certificate.

In the boys’ category, Mugheelan achieved 12th place out of 86 participants, earning the gold medal and a certificate. Keshvar finished 24th, while Hemacharan and Diroshan placed 38th and 37th, respectively, with all three receiving the silver medals and certificates. The success of these students highlights the growing talent and excellence in chess within the Tamil school community.

This chess tournament served as an excellent platform for young talent to compete and showcase their skills, promoting a spirit of friendly competition and underscoring the increasing interest and proficiency in chess within the Tamil school community. Congratulations to SJKT Kulai Besar and all the Tamil schools that participated in this event. Best wishes for continued success in nurturing young talents and achieving greater milestones in the future.
