A few days after revealing plans to develop a sequel to his acclaimed 2004 film 7G Rainbow Colony, director Selvaraghavan has offered fans a glimpse from the set of the upcoming movie.
Sharing a photo on Instagram, the filmmaker mentioned that a night shoot is in progress. The image features decorative lights adorning what appears to be a beach location, hinting at the possibility of a song sequence being filmed. However, no official confirmation has been provided regarding the nature of the shoot.
The romantic drama, featuring Ravi Krishna and Sonia Agarwal, tells the story of Kadhir, a carefree young man whose life undergoes a profound transformation after he falls in love with Anitha. However, tragedy strikes when Anitha dies in a fatal accident. Despite having secured a well-paying job, Kadhir continues to live as if Anitha were still alive, holding on to his memories of her.
Ravi Krishna is set to reprise his iconic role, with Anaswara Rajan, known for her performances in Raangi (2022) and Thugs (2023), joining as the new female lead. While there is no confirmation yet on whether Sonia Agarwal will return to her original role, Yuvan Shankar Raja has been confirmed to compose music once again for the sequel. The ensemble cast also includes Jayaram, alongside Suman Shetty and Sudha, who will reprise their roles as Lakshmi Narayanan (Suman Shetty) and Kadhir’s mother, respectively.
On the technical side, Ramji will handle the cinematography for 7G Rainbow Colony 2. The film is currently nearing the completion of its shooting schedule, and the team is aiming for a release in the latter half of 2025.
With a beloved cast returning, new talents joining the fold, and Yuvan Shankar Raja’s soulful music promising to once again capture hearts, 7G Rainbow Colony 2 is shaping up to be an emotional and captivating continuation of the original. Fans are eagerly awaiting this much-anticipated sequel, and with the film in its final stages of production, excitement is building as the makers gear up for a release in the latter half of 2025. The blend of nostalgia and fresh storytelling makes this follow-up a film to watch out for.
