Thivyah Kia is a rising star in the Malaysian entertainment industry, known for her diverse talents and dynamic presence. Balancing a full-time role as a marketing executive, she also excels as an actress, dance choreographer, emcee, deejay, singer, and model. Her artistic journey began at the age of three when she started learning Bharatanatyam, a renowned Indian classical dance that emphasizes intricate movements and expressive facial gestures. This early foundation laid the groundwork for her passion for acting. Thivyah further honed her skills by pursuing a Diploma in Performing Arts, during which she participated in theater productions and a short film, showcasing her dedication and versatility in the performing arts.

Journey to Becoming an Entertainer

Thivyah’s mother often took her to theater performances, dance recitals, and musical shows, immersing her in the world of performing arts from a young age. Growing up watching these events sparked her passion for entertaining people. Additionally, her early training in Bharatanatyam helped her develop a natural flair for acting, making it an effortless extension of her artistic expression.

“Since childhood, I always knew I wanted to be an entertainer. I loved bringing joy to those around me. I aspired to be more than just an actor — I wanted to be a true entertainer. That’s how my sense of humor naturally developed within me.”

At 17, Thivyah began working behind the scenes on local projects, where she discovered a deep appreciation for the magic of cinema. Immersed in the creative process, she eagerly built her knowledge, gained valuable experience, and refined her skills. She also showcased her talent through cover videos, where her soulful acting and graceful dance moves captivated audiences, earning widespread praise. Driven by passion and determination, Thivyah continues her acting journey, steadily achieving greater milestones and reaching new heights in her career.

A Significant Milestone in Her Kollywood Debut

Thivyah Kia’s relentless dedication and hard work have propelled her career to new heights, marking a significant milestone with her entry into Kollywood. She has secured a role in the upcoming film Ten Hours, starring Sibi Sathyaraj and directed by Ilayaraja Perumal. This achievement is a remarkable testament to her journey as a self-made artist, driven by passion and perseverance. When asked about her feelings on making her Kollywood debut, Thivyah expressed her deep sense of gratitude, joy, and feeling truly blessed for the opportunity.

However, I am a bit nervous about how the audience will receive my role in the film and whether it will meet their expectations. Personally, rather than focusing on becoming a lead actress, I am more passionate about exploring diverse genres. My primary concern is that the roles I take on should allow me to demonstrate my talent and potential. This doesn’t necessarily require being in the spotlight — if you believe in yourself and perform with dedication, your efforts will be recognized no matter where you stand. Regarding my Kollywood debut, I’m uncertain if this role will fully showcase my abilities since I had to adhere closely to the director’s vision. Nevertheless, I am sincerely grateful for the experience and opportunity.

The film Ten Hours was produced by the Malaysian-based company Duvin Studios, which later sold the rights to Five Star. The producer, familiar with Thivyah’s journey and well aware of her talent from the beginning, recognized her potential and offered her a role in the project.

Thivyah expressed her gratitude towards her mother, acknowledging her constant support. She mentioned that her mother traveled with her to India for the shoot, taking care of her throughout the entire process. They had a long journey to reach the filming location, and her mother was there every step of the way, looking after her with great care.

“My mother was the one who first encouraged me to take on this role. She gave me the motivation I needed, telling me that every journey has to start somewhere, regardless of the role. I’m also deeply thankful to my producer for giving me this incredible opportunity. Additionally, I want to express my gratitude to all the directors and producers I’ve worked with on my previous projects — Ravindas, Deepban, Jesuraj, Daven, and many others. Without the platform they provided, I wouldn’t have reached this point. Even though I wasn’t a well-known figure, they trusted me, and I’m truly appreciative of their belief in my talent.”

When asked about the difference between acting in Kollywood for the first time and her previous experiences in local projects, Thivyah shared, “I was completely new to the industry, and no one knew me there. However, once people learned there was a shoot happening, they came forward to greet us, ask about the movie, and inquire when it would be released. They were eager to support the film, saying they would watch it in theaters. I was truly surprised by the warm reception from people who didn’t even know me, and it was heartwarming to see the excitement for a movie that hadn’t even been released yet.

In contrast, in the Malaysian Tamil entertainment industry, creators and stars often have to promote their films themselves. That was the biggest difference I noticed. However, things are slowly changing for the better, and we remain hopeful that Malaysians will eventually offer the same level of support to our local artists as well.”

Managing Career and Creative Pursuits with Dedication

Thivyah juggles a full-time job while pursuing her passions for acting, dancing, dance choreography, and deejaying. Balancing multiple roles at such a young age and excelling in each of them is no easy feat. However, Thivyah manages it all with ease, driven by the passion that fuels her determination and keeps her moving forward.

“Since I’m involved in so many things, I’m constantly busy. I have a 9 to 5 job, and everything related to acting, deejay lessons, meetings, and events happens after working hours, keeping me on the go all day. The one thing I miss the most is spending time with my family, as I am very close to them. The past year has been especially challenging, and I barely had time to fulfill my basic responsibilities. As a result, I hardly got to spend time with my family, but I’m grateful they understood and supported me. Their encouragement has been a vital source of strength in my journey,” Thivyah shared.

The hard work and dedication Thivyah invests in her career come with their share of sacrifices. However, the love and unwavering support from her family have played a crucial role in helping her reach this point in the entertainment industry.

When asked about her upcoming projects, Thivyah expressed her excitement for Thigil, a project that has been in the works for quite some time. She is eager to see the final result, especially since her director has praised her performance, saying it turned out really well. Thivyah is looking forward to witnessing her work on screen.

Despite balancing a full-time job and multiple creative roles, Thivyah continues to excel in acting, dancing, choreography, deejaying, and more, all while maintaining a strong connection with her family. Thivyah Kia’s journey from the local Malaysian entertainment scene to making her Kollywood debut showcases her versatility, talent, and growth as an artist.

As she continues to explore new opportunities and take on diverse roles, her passion for entertainment remains her driving force. With several exciting projects on the horizon, Thivyah Kia’s star is undoubtedly on the rise, and her future in the industry looks incredibly promising.
