Celebrating Culture, Kedah’s First Grand Mattu Pongal Festival Promises Joy and Unity

Our Tamil Community in Kedah is gearing up to host their first ever grand Mattu Pongal festival by Enrico’s in Malaysia, promising an unforgettable experience of culture and tradition. Scheduled to take place on Saturday, 25th January 2025. From 9am to 1pm at Famox Plantation, Bedong Kedah. The festival features many activities from our culture that excites and brings pride for the Indian Community. Their activities include Bullock Cart Ride, Jallikattu Exhibition, Pot Breaking (Urri Addi) and traditional games that highlight Tamil heritage and customs.

The organisers aim to make the festival a platform to showcase our Tamil traditions to a broader community while bringing families, friends and neighbours together in celebration. Visitors can expect a vibrant atmosphere filled with joyous activities to learn about the cultural history of Pongal, a harvest festival that holds significance in Tamil Culture.

As this is the first ever Mattu Pongal Celebration in Malaysia, it builds hype and excitement as many Malaysians have not experienced the celebration before. With cultural performances and cultural activities, it promises the attendees of all ages to be fascinated by the experience. 

The Pongal Celebration in Kedah marks a milestone for the Tamil Community, demonstrating their commitment to preserve and share our cultural identity. With its blend of traditional festivities and community spirit, this event is set to mark history and a memorable occasion for everyone who attends it.
