Top Malaysian Women’s double pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah created history by becoming the first Malaysian pair in 14 years to reach the Indonesia Master Finals. The duo showed their exceptional skill as they defeated South Korea’s Lee Yeon Woo and Lee Yu Lim in straight games in 52 minutes with, 21-19, 21-16.

The victory marked a milestone for the world No.7 pair. While Thinaah expressed satisfaction with their overall performance and acknowledged their strategy and areas to be improved, “Quite pleased, but still some areas that need to be improved on.”.

The last time a Malaysian women’s double pair reached the final was in the year 2011. When Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei won the title. Pearly and Thinaah’s achievement not only ends the 14 years wait but shows their strong return to form following early exits in this season’s Malaysia open and India Open tournaments.

This match was not that easy for them to defeat. The South Korean pair who started pairing up from November last year, gave a strong comeback in their first game. Despite 4-11 they surged to 19-18 before Pearly and Thinaah defeated them.

The nation will cheer for them as their aim to capture the Indonesian Masters title in today’s game. Today’s final will see Pearly and Thinaah face another South Korean duo, Kim Hye Jeong and Kong Hee Yeong, ranked No.29 in the world.
