Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to Visit Batu Caves Today Ahead of Thaipusam Celebration

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to visit Batu Caves this afternoon in anticipation of the Thaipusam celebration, which will take place next Tuesday.

The Prime Minister’s schedule for today, shared on his Instagram yesterday, includes a highly anticipated working visit to Batu Caves at 3pm. This announcement has been making headlines everywhere, sparking excitement among the Indian community as they prepare for the grand Thaipusam celebration next Tuesday.

Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan confirmed the visit, stating that this historic occasion will also provide Anwar with the opportunity to oversee the preparations for the festival at the Batu Caves temple.

Ramanan, who oversees Indian community affairs, shared that Anwar had informed him about the visit on Wednesday evening.

“The Prime Minister expressed his desire to witness the preparations for Thaipusam firsthand while also engaging with the Indian community. He is eager to visit Batu Caves in person this year,” he told Bernama yesterday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to Batu Caves today is expected to further strengthen ties with the Indian community while reaffirming the government’s commitment to cultural and religious inclusivity.
