In celebration of Thaipusam, the Selangor state government has allocated grants to 61 temples across the districts of Gombak, Hulu Selangor, and Kuala Selangor, distributing a total of approximately RM561,000 through the Phase 1/2025 LIMAS Assistance program. As part of this initiative, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, the Menteri Besar of Selangor presented the assistance cheques to the respective temples, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting religious institutions and preserving cultural heritage.

This initiative was announced by State Executive Council member Papparaidu, highlighting the government’s support for religious and cultural festivities. The Thaipusam festival was grandly celebrated at Batu Caves yesterday, and the festivities continue as devotees are expected to visit and fulfill their vows for at least another week.

As part of the celebrations, a special event organized by the Selangor state government was successfully held in a remarkable manner. Selangor Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Klang Member of Parliament Ganabatirau, Sentosa State Assemblyman Gunaraj, and several other dignitaries attended the event.

One of the key highlights of the event was the distribution of grants to approximately 61 temples across Selangor, demonstrating the state government’s commitment to preserving religious and cultural heritage.

These funds were allocated to support a range of initiatives, including temple renovations, infrastructure improvements, maintenance work, and the enhancement of facilities for devotees. This financial assistance aims to ensure that these temples continue to serve as important spiritual and community hubs for generations to come.

Every year, the Selangor state government allocates these funds to temples as part of its continued support. This underscores the government’s commitment to promoting religious harmony and its dedication to supporting all communities in their spiritual and cultural traditions.

Furthermore, the Selangor state government has introduced various initiatives to support the growth and development of the Indian community. Papparaidu urged the Indian community to make full use of these programs to benefit from the opportunities provided.

The Selangor state government’s ongoing support for Thaipusam celebrations and temple development reflects its dedication to cultural preservation and religious harmony. Through financial assistance and community-focused initiatives, the government continues to uplift and empower the Indian community.
