MITRA operates under the Ministry of Human Resources and is dedicated to the empowerment and upliftment of the Indian community across Malaysia. The organization plays a vital role in providing a range of support services, including the distribution of educational aid to Indian students, financial assistance for small business owners, and essential resources for underprivileged families within the community. In addition to these initiatives, MITRA is actively involved in conducting outreach programmes and social activities designed to foster community development and inclusivity.

With this new appointment, there are high hopes that Raveendran Nair will be more transformative and drive more inclusive initiatives that will greatly benefit the Indian community. His leadership is expected to align with the broader objectives of the “Malaysia MADANI” framework, which emphasizes progress, unity, and support for diverse communities in the nation. Community members anticipate that under his guidance, MITRA will embark on impactful programmes that will enhance the socio-economic status of the Indian community in Malaysia.
