Ilaiyaraaja also made history as the first Asian to record a symphony with the renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London. The distinguished event was attended by YB Tuan M. Kulasegaran A/L V. Murugeson, the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Y.B. Tuan Papparaidu A/L Veraman, Selangor State EXCO, and Dato’ Freddie Fernandez, the President of Persatuan Karyawan.

In a departure from his previous performances, this exceptional event’s playlist has been carefully curated by a dedicated Malaysian fan, Ravivarma Vicraman, who serves as the concert’s creative director. The playlist is a true reflection of the dreams and desires of Ilaiyaraaja’s fans. To ensure the inclusion of the most beloved tracks, Pink Creative Agency conducted an exclusive online poll across Malaysia, allowing fans to vote for their favorite songs. As a result, the concert will feature a distinctive selection of songs, including never-before-performed compositions, timeless BGMs, and heartfelt tributes. Attendees can look forward to an immersive and exhilarating experience as the concert promises to deliver unforgettable moments throughout the night.
For the first time in Malaysian history, audiences will experience a spectacular Tamil Orchestral Concert, conducted by the legendary Maestro Ilaiyaraaja. The performance will feature a 70-piece orchestra, bringing together world-class musicians from Budapest, Hungary, and Chennai, India. This extraordinary event promises to blend symphonic brilliance with the timeless charm of Tamil melodies.
To further heighten the anticipation, Maestro Ilaiyaraaja shared his excitement, saying, “This will be the first time fans experience an orchestral concert like never before. The performance will showcase top-tier musicians from both Chennai and Budapest, Hungary.”

The audience was captivated by two stunning live performances from young Malaysian talents, leaving both the spectators and Maestro Ilaiyaraaja thoroughly impressed.

Maestro Ilaiyaraaja will be joined on stage by a distinguished group of celebrated playback singers, including Karthik, SPB Charan, Yugendran Vasudevan, Mathu Balakrishnan, and others. The concert will feature timeless classics, with some highlights being:
- “Poovar Sennin Mannan” from Thiruvasagam, originally recorded in Hungary with the Budapest orchestra.
- “Rakkamma” from Thalapathy, widely regarded as one of the greatest songs ever recorded globally.
- A special track from the iconic film Hey Ram, whose entire album was re-recorded based solely on scenes from the completed and edited film—a fascinating and lesser-known detail.
Every song performed at the concert comes with its own compelling backstory, creating a narrative-driven musical journey for fans like never before.
