MITRA and Bursa Malaysia Launch Shares Carnival to Boost Investment Awareness Among Indian Community

MITRA in collaboration with Bursa Malaysia Bhd, has launched the 2024/2025 Investment and Shares Carnival Programme. This initiative aims to increase the equity holdings of the Indian Community through stock investments, and educate them on the safe financial practices.

According to a statement from MITRA, the programme focuses on raising public awareness on investment strategies, fraud prevention and financial literacy. In this current generation, many fall into the trap of fraud and financial issues, as a prevention to that, this initiative will help many. The Shares Carnival includes exhibition booths from various government agencies, including Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), EPF (Employees Provident Fund), AKPK (Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency) among others.

Additionally, visitors can attend lectures by financial experts in the industry, where they can gain their knowledge on current trends and issues within the sector. Apart from that they also have lucky draw contest for the participants. MITRA has announced that the Shares Carnival will take place across nine states, Johor, Kedah, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Penang and Selangor. They are expecting this to benefit approximately 4,500 members from the Indian community,

In conjunction with the Shares Carnival, MITRA and Bursa Malaysia are also organizing the Malaysian Indian Investment Programme (MIIP). This programme is designed to empower Indian individuals aged 18-40 by educating them with essential investment skills. 

The MIIP is structured into three levels:
  • Beginner’s Level: 500 Participants
  • Intermediate Level: 300 Participants 
  • Advanced Level: 150 Participants (With Job Placement Opportunities in the Financial Investment Sector)

Applications for MIIP 2024/2025 are open from 21st January to February 21st 2025.
