After the success of Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Madhavan is now once again stepping into the biopic world of the legendary scientist with his latest project, GDN. The upcoming biopic is based on the life of G.D Naidu, a visionary scientist often referred as the “Edison of India”. Madhavan, known for his versatility and acting, shared the first look of the much anticipated film on his instagram, officially announcing the film.
The film is helmed by director Krishnakumar Ramakumar and stars R.Madhavan in the role. Along with him in pivotal roles, actress Priyamani, Yogi Babu, and Jayaram. The movie’s music is composed by Govind Vasantha, while Muralidharan and Aravind K. take on the production side. The biopic aims to portray the life and achievement of G.D Naidu, a pioneering industrialist and scientist known for manufacturing India’s first electric motor and making groundbreaking contributions to the engineering, mechanics and innovation field.
In an earlier interview, the film’s producer Muralidharan Subramaniam revealed that the research process spanned over five years to ensure an accurate and compelling story of G.D Naidu’s contributions. To maintain the authenticity, 95% of the film will be shot in Coimbatore, G.D Naidu’s birthday place while remaining portions will be shot abroad which was partially completed last year.

Madhavan previously delivered a stellar performance as Nambi Narayanan in Rocketry, has once again taken on the challenges of bringing an inspirational person to life on screen. Sharing the first look of GDN on social media, he captioned it, “Need all your blessings and good wishes”. The film’s announcement has already generated excitement among fans, especially after Rocketry won the National Award for Best Feature Film in 2022.
GDN is produced by Varghese Moolan and Vijay Moolan under Varghese Moolan Pictures along with Madhavan and Sarita Madhavan under Tricolour Films. Additionally Aravind Kamalanathan plays a dual role as the cinematographer and creative producer.
With Madhavan in the film, GDN promises to be an inspiring story of G.D Naidu’s remarkable journey, shedding light to his work in science and technology. As the project moves forward, fans are eagerly waiting to watch the film.
