Malaysian women’s doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah delivered a dominant performance to secure their spot in the quarter-finals of the All England Championship. The duo claimed an impressive victory over Indonesia’s Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, showcasing their skill and determination on the court.
The world No. 5 duo came out strong from the outset, swiftly taking control of the match to secure a 21-16, 21-14 victory in just 43 minutes. With this win, they became the second Malaysian pair to advance to the quarter-finals.
During the second game, with the Malaysian pair leading 13-7, Pearly suffered an injury that momentarily disrupted their momentum and put their lead at risk. Despite showing signs of discomfort and occasionally limping, she displayed remarkable resilience, pushing through the pain to keep their advantage intact. Her determination ultimately played a crucial role in securing the victory for the duo.
Pearly and Thinaah have now secured their fourth victory over the world No. 29 Indonesian duo in six meetings, further asserting their dominance in this head-to-head rivalry.
In today’s quarter-final, Pearly and Thinaah will be aiming to redeem themselves against Japan’s Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida, hoping to avenge their loss in the bronze medal play-off at last year’s Olympics.

Earlier, Malaysia’s mixed doubles pair, Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai, cruised into the quarter-finals with a commanding 21-9, 21-10 victory over Scotland’s Alexander Dunn and Julie Macpherson.
With their impressive performances, Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah, along with Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai, have kept Malaysia’s hopes alive in the All England Championship. As they prepare for their next matches, the Malaysian contingent will be eager to continue their strong run and chase further success on the prestigious stage.
