Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) has extended their Electric Train Service (ETS) to Segamat, marking a significant milestone in Malaysia’s rail network expansion. This journey from Segamat station to Padang Besar commenced at 7:55 am yesterday, 15th March. This enhances connectivity and economic opportunities in the region.

KTMB Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin highlighted the importance of this extension, by stating the new route covers existing services between Butterworth, Gemas and Padang Besar. The first train from Butterworth to Segamat, service EG9321, departed at 7:50 am and arrived at 2:57 pm.
“We are thrilled to introduce the ETS service to Segamat, offering modern and comfortable rail travel to more Malaysians. This expansion aligns with our commitment to enhancing public transportation and providing more sustainable travel options”.

The new ETS route is expected to stimulate economic activity in Segamat by improving accessibility and attracting more visitors. To promote the launch, KTMB conducted extensive outreach efforts over the past three days, engaging with the public through visits to supermarkets, government offices, Ramadan Bazaars and more.
To celebrate the service extension, KTMB is offering a special discount of RM10 for passengers on ETS services EG9321, EG9322, EG9420, and EG9425, subject to terms and conditions. Additionally, Segamat station is hosting an exclusive KTMB Rail Boutique merchandise sales and free health screenings provided by Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL).
