The father of eight-year-old S. Harsheetaa Sai, R. Selva Ganapathy, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Malaysians for their generosity in raising RM1.5 million for his daughter’s upcoming heart surgery in the United States.

Harsheetaa Sai, a student at SJKT Saraswathy in Sungai Buloh, has been living with heterotaxy since birth. This serious condition has caused her oxygen levels to drop dangerously low, ranging from 70%-75%, far below the normal range of 95%-99%. As a result, she urgently needs treatment at Boston Children’s Hospital, a renowned medical center in Massachusetts specializing in complex heart conditions.

The 42-year-old father shared that the funds were collected in less than a month after news of his daughter’s congenital heart condition was highlighted in the media.

“I am deeply grateful for the immense generosity and unwavering support we have received during this difficult time. Thanks to your kindness, we have successfully reached our fundraising goal, allowing us to take the next crucial step in my daughter’s journey toward recovery.

“Our Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, also extended financial assistance recently, which has significantly eased the financial strain we have faced from the beginning. With your donations, we can now move forward with the upcoming treatment and surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital, where Harsheetaa Sai will receive the specialized care she urgently needs,” he told Bernama.

Selva Ganapathy, a teacher at SJKT Saraswaty shared that he is currently awaiting his visa interview at the United States embassy. He hopes to depart for the US between April 12 and 14.

“These are essential steps before we can proceed with the surgery, and thanks to your support, we feel closer than ever to this life-changing opportunity,” he said.

On March 20, Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim provided financial assistance to Harsheetaa Sai’s family. The contribution was personally delivered by his political secretary, Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, during a visit to the child’s home in Batu Caves, Selangor.

The generosity and support of Malaysians have made a significant impact on the life of eight-year-old Harsheetaa Sai, enabling her to take the crucial step toward receiving specialized heart surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital. With RM1.5 million successfully raised in under a month, the family is now able to proceed with the treatment that will offer Harsheetaa the chance for a healthier future. As Harsheetaa’s journey toward recovery progresses, the unwavering support from Malaysians has proven to be a lifeline for the young girl and her family. We pray that the surgery goes smoothly and that Harsheetaa makes a full and speedy recovery.
