Malaysia’s Shereen Samson Vallabuoy kicked off her 2025 season in style, claiming her first victory of the year with an impressive performance in the women’s 400m at the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic held in Florida, USA, on Saturday. Competing against a field of strong contenders, Shereen showcased her experience and athletic prowess, pulling ahead of the pack with a confident and commanding run.

In a Facebook post today, Malaysia Athletics announced that the 26-year-old national record holder clinched the gold medal with a time of 53.72 seconds.
Gabby Johnson of the North Florida team claimed the silver medal with a time of 55.17 seconds, while Nevaeh Lorjuste from Rowan secured the bronze after finishing in 56.91 seconds.
“According to Shereen, the first 200m was quite challenging due to the windy conditions and headwind. However, overall, she felt good technically and ran with full strength,” the post read.
Shereen is the current national record holder in the 400m event, having set a time of 51.80 seconds. Shereen’s strong start to the 2025 season not only highlights her consistency on the track but also reaffirms her position as Malaysia’s top 400m sprinter. With this early victory and a solid performance despite challenging conditions, she sets a promising tone for the competitions ahead.
