Today marks World Health Day, a global observance dedicated to raising awareness about pressing health issues and promoting the importance of well-being for all. Celebrated every year on April 7th under the leadership of the World Health Organization (WHO), this day serves as a powerful reminder of the need for equitable access to quality healthcare, healthier lifestyles, and stronger healthcare systems. As the world continues to navigate complex health challenges, World Health Day 2025 calls on individuals, communities, and governments to come together in the pursuit of a healthier, more resilient future.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, marked World Health Day with a message shared on social media. In his post, he emphasized the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that all Malaysians—especially vulnerable communities—have access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food. He reaffirmed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) will continue its efforts to strengthen the nation’s food security and support overall public health.

In a statement today, he highlighted the close link between balanced nutrition and the overall health of families, especially mothers and children.

He noted that the theme of World Health Day 2025, “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” underscores the vital role of maternal and child healthcare as a cornerstone for community well-being and the nation’s long-term, sustainable development.

In a Facebook post today, he stated that maternal and child health is not only a reflection of a nation’s healthcare progress but also a key indicator of its capacity to nurture a healthy, intelligent, and competitive future generation.

He also urged the public to reaffirm their commitment to prioritizing health in conjunction with the World Health Day celebration.

“A healthy beginning paves the way for a brighter future for our nation. Wishing everyone a meaningful World Health Day 2025,” he said.

As World Health Day 2025 shines a spotlight on the importance of investing in early health and nutrition, the message is clear: collective action is essential to build a healthier and more equitable future. With continued support from ministries, healthcare institutions, and the public, Malaysia remains committed to creating a society where every individual—beginning from infancy—has the opportunity to thrive. Let this day serve as both a celebration of progress and a renewed call to strengthen our efforts in safeguarding the well-being of current and future generations.
