Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu, whose banner V Creations is backing director Vetrimaaran’s highly anticipated action film Vaadi Vaasal, has revealed in a recent interview with a YouTube channel that filming will resume in July this year.
Speaking about the project, which stars Suriya in the lead role, Thanu mentioned that a song sequence shot recently turned out to be “extraordinary” and has come out exceptionally well.
Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu shared his excitement about a recently shot song from Vaadi Vaasal, calling it “extraordinary.” He said, “I probably shouldn’t be saying this without the director’s permission, but the song has turned out exceptionally well. It was so impressive, I even felt compelled to ask the director who had written the lyrics.”

Thanu also mentioned that he met director Vetrimaaran a week ago, during which the filmmaker narrated about 25 minutes of the film’s story. “After hearing just that portion, I told him, ‘This alone is enough.’ Those 25 minutes are powerful enough to send audiences into a frenzy. That’s the kind of gripping screenplay he has crafted,” Thanu added.
Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu had announced back in January this year that the filming of director Vetrimaaran’s Vaadi Vaasal would commence soon.
Interestingly, the announcement was made on the occasion of Maatu Pongal, a traditional festival dedicated to honoring and celebrating bulls—making it a symbolic and meaningful day to share the news about a film centered around the sport of Jallikattu.
The film has generated tremendous excitement among fans for two key reasons. Firstly, it marks the much-anticipated collaboration between acclaimed director Vetrimaaran and actor Suriya.

Secondly, the project is based on the renowned Tamil novel Vaadivaasal by celebrated writer Ci. Su. Chellappa. The story revolves around the traditional and culturally significant bull-taming sport of Jallikattu, which adds further intrigue and depth to the film’s narrative.
There is speculation within the industry that Vaadi Vaasal might be developed as a trilogy. However, the filmmakers have yet to make any official announcement confirming this.
With filming set to resume in July and anticipation running high, Vaadi Vaasal promises to be a landmark film that blends powerful storytelling with rich cultural heritage. The combination of Vetrimaaran’s visionary direction, Suriya’s commanding presence, and a narrative rooted in Tamil tradition has already captured the imagination of fans. As the project moves forward, all eyes will be on this ambitious film that aims to celebrate both cinema and the spirit of Jallikattu in a truly unforgettable way.
