Micro-entrepreneurs are encouraged to make use of government-backed financing opportunities available through various agencies, such as Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM). According to Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, YB Dato’ Seri R. Ramanan, AIM remains committed to supporting entrepreneurs and small business owners in need of financial assistance.
However, he emphasized that the initiative must come from the traders themselves, who should actively take advantage of the opportunities and support provided by the government.
“Since I assumed office, the government has allocated significant funding through AIM. At no point have we said that assistance from AIM is unavailable or difficult to access. This commitment has been clearly affirmed by both the AIM Board Chairman and its Managing Director,” he said.
“The government continues to introduce various programmes aimed at supporting the community. We still have sufficient funds available to assist entrepreneurs and the public,” he added during the AIM Hari Raya Open House.

Through agencies like Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), the government ensures that financial support is accessible, inclusive, and targeted toward those with the drive to succeed.
Also present at the event were AIM Board Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr. Syed Hussain Syed Junid, and AIM Managing Director, Datuk Mohamed Shamir Abdul Aziz. According to Shamir, AIM provided RM2.6 billion in financing last year to micro-entrepreneurs, commonly referred to as Sahabat.
“The entire amount was successfully distributed to hundreds of thousands of Sahabat. This year, the government has set aside RM100 million to continue supporting micro-entrepreneurs,” he said.
This strong show of support from the government and AIM reflects a broader commitment to fostering economic resilience and empowering grassroots entrepreneurs. With substantial funds still available and clear access pathways in place, micro-entrepreneurs are urged to seize these opportunities and take proactive steps toward business growth and financial independence. As Malaysia continues to champion inclusive development, initiatives like these play a crucial role in building a vibrant and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem for the future.
