Arjun Das has added another major milestone to his growing career by winning the Best Actor award at the 15th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival for his lead role in the romantic crime drama ‘Rasavathi’. Competing among 700 entries, Arjun stood out for his performance as Sadasiva Pandiyan, a Siddha doctor with a dark past. His portrayal earned wide praise for its honestly, emotion and depth.
This awards comes as significant recognition for Arjun Das who has already made a mark in Tamil cinema with intense and unforgettable roles in many films such as Kaithi, Master and most recently in Good Bad Ugly. The audience are used by seeing Arjun in negative roles, but in Rasavathi, he has proven his ability to take on complex, layered characters and make them feel real on screen.
The announcement was made by the films director Santhakumar, who shared this proud moment on social media. He expressed joy over Arjun’s achievement and highlighted how the actors dedication helped to bring the character of Sadasiva to life.
In Rasavathi, Arjun plays a calm and composed Siddha doctor who is trying to stay away from his past dark life. However his life takes a dangerous turn when he crosses paths with a psychotic cop, played by Sujith Shanker, who becomes obsessed with ruining his relationship and ending his life over an ego driven conflict. The film combines emotion, suspense and drama.
Film Festivals
The film has been screened at several film festivals ever since it’s release on May 2024. Last month, Arjun won best actor award for Rasavathi in the New Jersey Indian and International Film Festival (NJIIF), and the film also received recognition, as Tapas Nayak won Best Sound Design at the London International Film Festival. This shows that the film is not only being appreciated for the acting but also its technical quality.
The Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival is known for celebrating meaningful cinema and talented artists across India. Winning an award here is considered a great honour. For Arjun this will be a sign that he’s moving to the right direction and fans are now eagerly waiting to his see him in next projects.
With this win, Arjun joins the list of celebrated actors who have received recognitions from this film festival, proving his talent is noticed and appreciated both in India and internationally.
