One of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year, ‘Bison Kaalamaadan’, is all set to take over the theaters this Diwali, with a worldwide release scheduled for 17th October 2025. Directed by Mari Selavaraj, starring Dhruv Vikram in the lead role, the film promises to be an emotional and gripping sports frama centred around the South traditional game Kabaddi.
The films release announcement was made by the filmmaker himself yesterday, by the powerful caption, “A film for the festive season! A film for celebration! Bison is arriving with a blast!”, he also describe it movie as “a film of perseverance, determination and survival”, hinting at the emotional depth and raw storytelling.
Produced by Pa Ranjith and Aditi Anand under the Neelam Studios Banner, alongside Sameer Nair and Deepak Segal of Applause Entertainment, Bison marks a reunion of PA Ranjith and Mari Selvaraj after their critically acclaimed film ‘Pariyerum Perumal’. Ranjith shared his excitement over the collaboration as well.
A Tribute to Unsung Heroes
While the film’s plot is officially under wraps, it is widely believed to be inspired by the Arjun award winning kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan. Though the team has not confirmed this, if it is true, the story is likely to shine a spotlight on struggles and triumphs of local athletes.
The cast includes Anupama Parameswaran as the female lead, along with Pasupathy, Lal, Rajisha Vijayan, Kalaiyarasan, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Azhagam Perumal and Madhan Dhakshinamoorthy. The film is also said to be released on Netflix as part of the platforms 2025 Tamil content slate.
