Malaysian women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah are set to achieve a new milestone in their careers, as they are expected to rise to a career-best world ranking of No. 4 when the updated rankings are released Tomorrow.

Currently holding the No. 5 spot in the world rankings, Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah are poised to make history as only the second Malaysian women’s doubles pair to break into the top four — a feat last accomplished by Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei Hui in July 2010.

The now-retired duo of Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei Hui reached the pinnacle of the world rankings, holding the No. 1 spot in May 2009.

Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah, who impressed with a runner-up finish at the Indonesia Masters and a semi-final appearance at the India Open, have been consistently showcasing their talent on the international stage. In addition to their individual achievements, they also played a key role as part of Malaysia’s squad at the Sudirman Cup. The duo registered one victory and suffered one loss during their campaign in Xiamen.

With their steady rise and impressive performances on the international circuit, Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah continue to cement their status as one of Malaysia’s top badminton duos. Breaking into the world’s top four is not only a personal milestone but also a significant moment for Malaysian women’s badminton, marking a new era of promise and potential. As they build on this momentum, all eyes will be on the pair to see how far they can go in their pursuit of excellence on the world stage.
