Malaysia’s top women’s double shuttlers Pearly Tan and M.Thinaah powered their way into the final of the Thailand Open today after a commanding straight-games victory over Japan’s Rui Kirokami and Sayaka Hobara.
The world N0.4 pair just needed 44 minutes to wrap up a 21-18, 21-12 win in the semi-finals, keeping their title hopes alive and edging closer to making history as the first Malaysian women’s doubles team to win the tournament.
Their finals will be South Korea’s Jeong Na Eun and Lee Yeon Woo, a world No.105 pairing who have impressed throughout their run in Bangkok. Pearly and Thinaah, hold a edge having defeated the Korean duo in their only previous meeting at the French Orleans Master in March.

This will be Pearly and Thinaah’s second appearance of the season, following their runner-up finish at the same French tournament. A title win in Bangkok would not only be a boast ahead of the Olympics but also influence their career path as the pair is reportedly weighing a decision between turning professional or continuing under the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
The winners of the Thailand Open will walk away with a prize of US37,525 (approximately RM161,130). While the runners up will take home US18,050 (around RM77,500)
