Acclaimed filmmaker Sudha Kongara has dismissed the rising speculation about a potential box office face off between her upcoming film Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Thalapathy Vijay’s much anticipated Jana Nayagan.
In a recent interaction with reporters, the Soorarai Pottru director clarified that Parasakthi, is still in production with approximately 40 days of shooting left. She shared,
“I alone cant decide the release date. The producers and other stakeholders will make that call. The media has speculated that these two films will clash, but I haven’t announced anything yet”, Sudha Kongara stated, adding that filming will resume once Sivakarthikeyan returns from his current shoot in Colombo for AR Murugadoss Madharasi.
Parasakthi, marks Sudha Kongara’s first collaboration with Sivakarthikeyan and has been generating a considerable buzz since the release of its teaser earlier this year. The teaser hinted glimpses suggesting story connected to the Anti-Hindi imposition movement, a historically charged topic in Tamil Nadu. While Sudha has remained silent about the film’s political undertones, she clarified that at its core, Parasakthi is a tale of brothers.

Joining Sivakarthikeyan in the ensemble casts are Sreeleela, Atharavaa and Ravi Mohan, who is reportedly playing an antagonist. Reports suggest that Sivakarthikeyan’s character may be inspired by a student from Annamalai University who rises to prominence during the Anti Hindi protests of the 1930s.
The films technical crew includes composer GV Prakash, and screenplay co-developed with Ganeshaa, while dialogues have been written by Madhan Karky and Shan Karuppusamy. The film is being produce by Aakash Baskaran under Dawn Pictures.
Meanwhile, Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, directed by H.Vinoth and slated for a 2026 Pongal release, it is already making waves as the actors final film before his fully fledged political entry. With an ensemble cast featuring Pooja Hegde, Booby Deol, and Prakash Raj, and music produced by Anirudh, the film is expected to reflect Vijay’s real life political ambitions.
As speculation continues, its clear that both films are poised to shape Tamil cinema’s landscape, whether or not they share the same release date.
